摘要

This study examines how digital payment methods (e-wallets, mobile banking, and contactless cards) influence consumer spending behavior in urban areas. With the rapid digitization of financial transactions, understanding shifts in spending patterns is critical for businesses and policymakers. Using a survey of 500 urban consumers and regression analysis, we find that digital payment adoption is positively correlated with increased transaction frequency and higher discretionary spending. Consumers using digital payments are 32% more likely to make impulsive purchases compared to cash users, primarily due to reduced payment friction and enhanced convenience. Additionally, younger demographics (18–35 years) show the strongest association between digital payment use and elevated spending. The findings suggest that businesses should optimize digital payment integration to capitalize on changing consumer habits, while policymakers should address potential risks of overspending associated with cashless transactions.
